In-Depth Exploration of Medexx Fotonix IPL 9 Filters
At the heart of Medexx’s IPL E-Light technology lies a sophisticated system of filters. This means our device precisely targets specific concerns by optimizing light absorption by key chromophores in the skin.

530nm Filter (Melasma/Hyperpigmentation)
Specialized for Rosacea and Mild Pigmentation: This shorter-wavelength, high-energy filter is ideal for minimizing redness associated with rosacea and gently treating superficial pigmentation like freckles or light sunspots.
560nm Filter (IPL Skins Treatments, Vascularity)
Standard IPL Skin Rejuvenation and Vascularity: A versatile filter targeting moderate pigmentation issues, general skin texture improvement (photorejuvenation), and the treatment of small, diffuse blood vessels.
580nm Filter (IPL Skins Treatments, Pigmentation, Vascularity, Facial veins):
Deeper Pigmentation and Facial Veins: Designed to address a combination of concerns: more pronounced pigmentation (e.g., sun damage), noticeable vascularity, and the removal of clearly visible facial veins.
610nm Filter (Larger facial veins, Pigmentation):
Larger Facial Veins and Sun Spots: This longer wavelength penetrates deeper to coagulate thicker or larger facial veins. It is also effective in treating pigmented lesions of solar origin.
640nm Filter (Hair Removal, darker skin):
Hair Removal for Lighter Skin (Lower Phototypes): The standard hair removal filter absorbed by hair follicle melanin. It is optimal for treating dark hair on light skin tones (Phototypes I-III) with high efficacy and safety.
690nm Filter (Vascular Treatment)
Hair Removal for Darker Skin (Higher Phototypes): This deeper wavelength minimizes superficial absorption by skin melanin, allowing for safer hair removal on darker skin tones (Phototypes IV-V) and reducing the risk of thermal damage.
740nm Filter (Skin Rejuvenation)
Deep Skin Rejuvenation: Offering maximum penetration, this filter is used to stimulate collagen and elastin production in the dermal layers, improving skin firmness, reducing fine lines, and providing comprehensive anti-aging benefits.
Acne vulgaris (Acne vulgaris)
Specific Acne Treatment (Propionibacterium acnes): Utilizes a blue light band (sometimes including green) for a photodynamic effect. Its primary goal is to destroy the P. acnes bacteria that cause acne vulgaris, reducing inflammation and breakouts.
Vascular (Distinct Vascular Lesions)
Distinct Vascular Lesion Treatment: A precision filter highly focused on hemoglobin. It is ideal for treating well-defined vascular lesions like telangiectasias (spider veins) or cherry angiomas by selectively coagulating the targeted vessel.
Basic Principles of Fotonix IPL 9
The operation of IPL technology is based on the absorption of photons by endogenous and exogenous chromophores present in the skin. When interacting with light, these chromophores, such as hemoglobin, melanin, and water, transfer light energy, generating heat. This thermal process leads to the selective destruction of target structures, a phenomenon known as thermolysis. Unlike lasers, IPL does not require monochromatic light to achieve this effect, which grants it great versatility.
Interchangeable HD-23 Filters
This system incorporates an innovative bifocal filter system that allows for customizing the wavelength for each specific treatment.
Self-Cooling Handpiece
The handpiece features a continuously cooling head, enhancing comfort during the procedure.
Digital Touch Screen Display
Facilitates navigation and control of treatment parameters.
